Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso had a tough day in Imola, crashing his AMR24 into the walls in final practice before getting knocked out in the first qualifying segment.

Formula One's French outfit Alpine was delighted with the result of the qualifying session at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as both cars managed to get into Q2.

Having qualified second on the grid for tomorrow's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri will lose his front row starting spot due to a grid drop penalty.

Verstappen turned out to be surprised to take pole position after a dismal Friday and a far from perfect final practice. Late set-up changes did provide what was needed though, leaving Piastri and Norris to bite the dust and end up second and third for McLaren.

Having received a new internal combustion engine just two weeks ago in Miami, Ferrari have elected to equip Charles Leclerc’s SF-24 with another fresh engine for this weekend’s Imola F1 round.
