Carson Lund's directorial debut uses a game that refuses to end as a framing device to explore how humans approach letting go of the things they love.

The "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" star's confrontational and audacious second feature was co-written by Céline Sciamma.

The filmmaker has previously cited "Twin Peaks: The Return" as an influence on their latest film, but hopes they don't have to wait as long as David Lynch did to make their sequel.

"It's the end of the version where we're not breaking the fourth wall."

The filmmaker, who was recently sentenced to eight years of imprisonment and a flogging, fled to Germany ahead of his latest film's premiere.
