- ProPro adds magic sorting, suggested tags and an unread duration per folder.
Use folders for sources and tags for articles
Folders group the feeds you follow by topic, so you can read one subject at a time. Tags mark the articles you want to keep, from any feed.
Folders for sources
Group feeds by topic and read one topic at a time. A feed can be in several folders, and on Pro you can set a folder to keep only today's or this week's unread articles.
Tags for articles
Tag an article with a keyboard shortcut and find it under Saved, next to your read-later list. The tag dashboard lets you rename, merge and pin tags, and search can combine several of them.
Smart sorting
Sort a folder newest first, oldest first or, on Pro, with magic sorting, which puts the articles other readers found most worth their time at the top. Suggested tags and rules can tag new articles for you.
Sources for widgets, digests and feeds
A folder or a tag can become a dashboard widget, an email digest, an output feed for your website or a shared Team folder.
Get organized
- Create a folder from the top of the sidebar and drag feeds into it. A feed can go into more than one folder.
- Create tags as you read. Click Add tags under an article, or press T, and type the tag.
- To let rules tag for you, create a rule on a folder with a keyword condition and an Assign tag action.
- Manage your tags on the tag dashboard and pin the ones you use to the sidebar. Set a folder's sorting and unread duration in the folder's properties.
Use cases
Keeping one beat per folder
Keep your industry, competitors, customers and regulators in separate folders, and read each one when you have time for it.
A research archive
Tag articles by project and by theme so you can search across the tags later. You can also publish a tag as a feed that your team's wiki displays.
A clean news folder
Put dozens of news feeds in one folder, set its unread duration to one day and turn on magic sorting. Your morning read then starts with what matters most.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a folder and a tag?
A folder holds feeds, and a tag holds articles. When you open a folder, you read every article from the feeds in it. A tag holds the articles you chose to keep, from any feed. A feed can be in several folders, and an article can have several tags.
How do I tag an article?
Click Add tags under the article or press T, then type an existing tag or a new one. With Pro, suggested tags offer tags based on the article's text and your existing tags, and a rule can tag new articles by keyword as they arrive.
Where do tagged articles go?
They appear under Saved in the sidebar, next to your read-later list, your annotations and your saved web pages. The tag dashboard lists every tag with its count and lets you rename, merge and pin your tags. The All tagged view combines several tags.
Can a folder show only recent articles?
Yes, on Pro. Set a folder's unread duration and the folder keeps only today's or this week's unread articles, so a news folder never piles up.
What is magic sorting?
It is a Pro sort order that puts the most popular and relevant articles of a folder first. It ranks them by how other readers of the same feeds engaged with them, and it shows a popularity indicator on each article.
Can I share a folder or a tag?
Yes. Any folder or tag can become an RSS or JSON output feed, an HTML clip, a digest or a Team folder, so other people can read what you organize.
